SterlingNOW Construction Update – December 2019
Gleason Expansion: The footprint of the 32,000 square foot addition to the Gleason Center is now fully in place. Within the next two weeks as the sheeting goes up on the new gymnasium, the entire structure will be “weatherproof” and closed in for the winter.
The College received great news recently as the flooring bid for the cardio/weight room came in well under budget. Those dollars will be needed as extra funds will be expended to create a new trash receptacle area on the southwest corner of the building and to re-sheet most of the current Gleason Center with siding to match the new construction.
As the interior of the building takes shape, the planning has now shifted to securing and purchasing furnishings for the offices, conference room, classrooms and lobby area. Our construction management company, Simpson Construction (Wichita), projects that our faculty and coaches will be able to move into their new offices in May 2020.
The next public tour of the Gleason Center and the new Baseball/Softball Complex will be held for employees and the public on Wednesday, December 18. Those interested are asked to meet at the Gleason Center’s lobby area on the east side of the construction at 3 p.m. The tour will be 30 minutes in length. No reservations are needed.
