SterlingNOW Construction Update – September 2019
Gleason Expansion: The Gleason Expansion project is taking shape nicely. Over the past two weeks, red steel has been going up that allows us to see a clear outline of the new weight room and lobby. Block walls and steel reinforcements have been placed for the safe room that will serve as the tornado shelter for the complex. Decisions have been made to install two layers of high-impact sheetrock in the new Wilkey Fieldhouse (auxiliary gym) and to install a new sound system in the competition gym.
Gleason HVAC Phase II: The men’s and women’s swim teams officially started practices in a fully-renovated swimming facility. The pool area now has high-efficiency heating and air conditioning for the comfort of swimmers and patrons. Thanks to the generosity of alumni and donors to the SterlingNOW Campaign, substantial and much-needed updates have been made to the HVAC and electrical systems in the Gleason Center.
A tour of the Gleason Center and the new Baseball/Softball Complex will be held for employees and the public on Friday, September 20. Those interested are asked to meet at Smisor Stadium’s west gate at 3 p.m. The tour will be 45 minutes in length. No reservations are needed.
